Lots of people, lots of cars. Saturday night at Las Vegas. Different than any other night? Maybe not. It’s like Carnival every day

At Mon Ami Gabi for good bistro food. This has to be our favorite restaurant in Vegas. It doesn’t have the best food in town, but it has good food. What makes it great is location, location, location, baby.

Mon Ami Gabi has a terrace overlookiking The Strip. On a warm night you can sit there and watch the Bellagio fountain from your table going off every 15 minutes to a new song. What could be more romantic than that?

Menu

Crab Cake (lb)

Tomato Salad (me)

Salmon (lb)

Trout (me)

Sauvignon Blanc (lb)

Cotes du Rhone (me)

Espresso (lb)

Chocolate Mousse (shared)

Out for a walk on our way to dinner. Las Vegas is very much like New York or Paris or Venice, in that you want to walk. There is just to much to see on the street. The advantage of Las Vegas is that you can see New York, Paris and Venice in Las Vegas (LOL).

At Mandalay Bay. Registration was slow because their system was down. Luckily there weren’t many people ahead of us at this time.

We got a room in the 34th floor, the highest floor in the hotel, I guess. Our room had a fabulous view of the airport, if you like airports…… We could watch planes landing and taking off, all day if we wanted to. We didn’t.

The rooms at the hotel are pretty big, 550 sq feet according to their website. We had a non smoking room with a king bed. There was the usual mini bar, and large flat panel TV against the wall. There was also a TV in the bathroom, this way you can watch CNN or whatever, while you shave. We had it on only once during the last day, when we watched the US Open, with Cleisters playing.

This being Las Vegas, there was a boxed item(s) called The Love Box in the snack tray, along with the Snickers and M&Ms

Getting of the plane at Las Vegas airport, we walk out into the terminal. First thing you see at the Vegas airport?  You guessed it

Flying over the Colorado River (?) on our way to Las Vegas. We are getting close to touch down. This was the second leg of the trip (couldn’t get a direct flight). Minneapolis-Phoenix-Las Vegas.
The landscape is almost the opposite of Minnesota. Mountains and arid, instead of flat and lots of water.

Waiting at the airport is never fun…..until now. We discovered Surdyk’s Cheese and Wine Market at the airport. This is the best food we’ve seen anyplace. They have stuff to take on the plane or eat by the airport. There is also a small sitting area with tables and chairs chairs. They have great salads. We had coffee, and purchased a couple of veggie sandwiches on focaccia, for the trip.
